The recording of the CD "Minuetto Libero" has its origins in the project "Young new music management", where 10 Norwegian contemporary composers were commissioned to compose music for a given ensemble (string orchestra), with a duration of approx. 3-5 minutes. Around 15 children's and youth orchestras have been involved in the rehearsal, development and performance of the music.

The composers have used their own, genuine expressions - no "sophisticated" children's pieces have been composed. The result is playful and varied and can be said to be a sort of overview of Norwegian contemporary music in all possible genres. The music is short pieces of character, which appear like small gems; here you get highly interesting musical expressions in condensed form, straight to the point, sharp and clear.

It is also one of the rarities that you manage to collect so many composers with such different expressions in one and the same publication; here we meet the cream of the crop of living Norwegian contemporary composers from Alfred Janson (b. 1937) to Eivind Buene (b. 1973).

The Youth Orchestra Association (UNOF) is a nationwide organization for all children's and youth orchestras in Norway. UNOF has 4,100 members aged 4–26, who play in 135 local orchestras. UNOF works to ensure that children and young people can receive training and play in an orchestra, and that children and young people have the opportunity to influence their own organization and development. UNOF follows up the member orchestras' interests vis-à-vis politicians and authorities, runs two national symphony orchestras for children and young people, and organizes summer music schools all over the country. UNOF has H.M. The Queen as her high patron.
